The Witcher, season 3 (Netflix): it’s time to say goodbye to Henry Cavill as Geralt | myCANAL

We’ve known it for a while, the British actor will hand over the main role of the series to Liam Hemsworth from season 4. In the meantime, Henry Cavill takes up his sword one last time to still honor the universe of The Witcher whom he loves so much.

Ciri at all costs

Summarize the plot of The Witcher is not easy, so we will just remember that at the end of season 2, Ciri (Freya Allan from The Third Day) was freed from the grip of the demon Voleth Meir thanks to the intervention of Yennefer, who eventually regained her powers as a witch.

She will need it during this third season, since it is up to her to have the heavy task of training Ciri in magic, which is not won at all. It must be said that classes are constantly interrupted by various and varied threats: just about every conceivable group on the Continent – elves, mages, the North, Nilfgaard, and so on – are trying to get their hands on Ciri and his powers.

An endearing trio

But Geralt has no intention of abandoning his adopted daughter, and so he doesn’t need to be asked to draw his sword and cut monsters or enemies by the dozens by squirting liters of hemoglobin in expertly executed choreographies by a Henry Cavill still as physically engaged in the role.

The Witcher is certainly still an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s heroic fantasy novels – in this case volume 4 of the saga for this season – but the series is above all thought of as spectacular and fun entertainment, even if the political plots are still so many.

It must nevertheless be recognized that this season seduces above all because it remains at the height of the characters: we do not sulk our pleasure in front of the more or less perilous adventures of the main trio, who go from cache to cache and who is now comparable to a small family.

Operation seduction

Obviously, Geralt and Yennefer are not likely to put the cover back anytime soon after the events of season 2, but the seduction operation is in full swing, and this little love game is all the more pleasant as the character of Yennefer – well put featured by Anya Chalotra – has more of an opportunity to shine this season with her super classy powers. And it goes without saying, Jaskier (Joey Batey) is obviously always there to lighten the mood and cheer up Geralt’s notoriously closed face.

Let’s enjoy it one last time: at the end of the eight episodes of this season 3, Henry Cavill will bow out and we know a lot of fans who will regret not being able to get an eyeful… So throw another penny at The Witcherand take comfort in watching Blood Legacy (Netflix) – the prequel with Michelle Yeoh – if it is not done yet.
