“That ’90s Show”: the love story of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis that jumped from the screen to real life

On January 19, Netflix will premiere “That ’90s Show”the reboot of the remembered “That 70’s Show”, which was on the air between 1998 and 2006. Seventeen years later, the story is renewed with another cast, a new decade but with the participation of its original figures as guest artists such as the iconic Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty ( Debra Jo Rupp), Topher Gracewho brought Eric Forman to life in the original series; Laura Prepon like Donna Forman; Ashton Kutcher as Michael Kelso; Mila Kunis as Jackie Burkhart; wilmer valderrama like Fes; Y tommy chong like Leo.

What does the synopsis tell us?

“It’s 1995, and Leia Forman (Eric and Donna’s daughter) is desperate for some adventure in her life, or at least a best friend other than her dad. When she visits her, Red and Kitty’s grandparents’ house in Point Place, she meets her dynamic and rebellious neighbor Gwen…just what she’s been looking for. She soon realizes that with Gwen’s friends—her beloved brother of hers Nate and her smart girlfriend, the sarcastic and perceptive Ozzie and the charming Jay—she can live her adventures there, just as she did with the her parents years ago. Excited to reinvent herself, she convinces her parents to let her stay all summer. With a basement full of teenagers again, Kitty is happy that the Forman house is a home for a new generation, and Red, well… you know how Red is,” reads the synopsis presented by Netflix.

going back to the past

The premiere of “That ’90s Show”, and the inclusion of actors from the original series has brought to the present some memories and old stories have regained notoriety, as is the case of the romance between Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kuniscouple in fiction and in reality.

The couple first met as co-stars on “That ’70s Show”where they played Jackie Burkhart and Michael Kelso, an unstable couple that ultimately did not end up together. After the end of the series in 2006, it took 6 years for them to be seen together as a romance.

“They held hands and were very affectionate,” recounted one onlooker. “They seemed to enjoy exploring the city together. They looked very relaxed and seemed very happy together.”, read a 2012 note published by People in which the couple’s kiss in the middle of the street was made public.

In a interview with People published in 2001, Mila revealed that she had a crush on Ashton since she was little. “I I was like, ‘Oh, it’s so cute, it’s the Calvin Klein model! … Then I thought, ‘Do I have to kiss him? ‘She was so nervous and uncomfortable. She had the biggest crush on him.”.

Fortunately, Kutcher calmed her down. “Ashton was very kindKunis recalled. “He just made jokes and gave me funny little compliments. she made me laugh”.

Separate paths

In 2005, one year before the end of “That ’70s Show”, Ashton Kutcher got married with Demi Moore, while Mila Kunis had a relationship with Macaulay Culkinthe same one that lasted eight years.

In 2011, Mila Kunis and Macaulay Culkin separated and that same year, on November 17, Demi Moore announced that she and Ashton Kutcher were getting a divorce.

In a release Demi said: “It is with great sadness and a great deal of regret that I have decided to end my six year marriage to Ashton.”. The actor, for his part, pointed out: “I will always cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the hardest things in the world and sadly sometimes they fail”.

In January 2012, Ashton and Mila reunited at the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards. On the podcast WTF with Marc Maron, Kunis spoke of this reunion: “I was looking around and there was a really beautiful man in the back. I was literally like, ‘Oh, he’s kind of hot.’ ‘…and then he turned around and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s Kutch.’”.

After this reunion, Kutcher invited Kunis to his housewarming party in the Hollywood Hills, kicking off what would later become a more serious relationship.

In an interview on The Howard Stern Show, Kutcher said the two were willing to keep things casual at first. “We were like, let’s just connect. let’s have fun We are both single. We both trust each other. Everything is great”.

With love on the surface, Ashton and Mila move in together that same year. Kunis said that she developed real feelings for Kutcher.

“I felt like I was punched in the stomach literally overnight.” said. “I was like, you know what, I actually care about you. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll leave before it’s too much. And he said, ‘Understood.’ And the next day, he showed up at my house and said, ‘Move in with me,’ and I said, ‘Okay.’”

Finally, in 2014, the couple got engaged, and in October of this year they welcomed their first child. In July 2015 they got married and on November 30, 2016 they welcomed their second child.

In 2019, People, through a source, revealed the couple’s secret to being happy during their four years of marriage: “Mila and Ashton have a very fulfilling life and love sharing the responsibilities of parenting. Their children keep them busy and stressful, but they are both so entrenched in their relationship that she has only brought them closer.
