The French range of the Tesla Model Y is enriched with a Propulsion version lowering the price of access to the 4.75 m long electric SUV. This two-wheel-drive model is displayed at €49,990, a price a little too high to take advantage of the maximum ecological bonus of €6,000 (reserved for cars costing less than €47,000) but which nevertheless allows you to benefit from €2,000 in aid.
The SUV cheaper than the sedan
At this price, the Model Y takes the place of the Model 3 as the manufacturer’s entry level here. Starting at €53,490, the 4.69m-long sedan yet has the same technical underpinnings as the crossover and displays similar performance in its rear-wheel drive configuration, although slightly better due to lower aerodynamic drag weight. . Regarding the Model Y Propulsion, Tesla announces a WLTP autonomy of 455 km, a time of 6.9 s to go from 0 to 100 km / h and a top speed of 217 km / h. The battery here accepts a maximum charging power of 170 kW, against 250 kW for the Model Y with all-wheel drive.
This astonishing price difference (an SUV in principle costs more than a sedan in the same segment) cannot be explained by a difference in origin, since the new variant of the Model Y is produced in Shanghai (China) for Europe. , like all Model 3s destined for the Old Continent. The Model Y Dual Motors available here, on the other hand, are assembled in the new Tesla factory in Berlin (Germany). The price difference could be due to the use of different batteries, but Tesla does not provide any details on this subject. The first European deliveries of the Tesla Model Y Propulsion are scheduled for December 2022.
Sophisticated comfort as standard
Like the rest of the range, whose prices remain unchanged, the Tesla Model Y Propulsion offers standard equipment provided and few options. Its standard equipment includes:
- Autopilot (level 2/5 autonomous driving)
- heated front and rear seats
- heated steering wheel
- 13-speaker premium audio system
- 19 inch alloy wheels.
For an additional fee, you can benefit from the improved Autopilot (€3,800), 20-inch rims (€2,100) or even a tow hitch (€1,350).
