Super Mario Bros. : Jack Black wants Pedro Pascal to play this iconic Nintendo villain

Earlier today, we revealed to you that the new Super Mario Bros. the film had just broken this impressive record held by Disney, showing that the animated feature film by nintendo made an exceptional start. And while the movie just came out a few days ago, Jack Black already seems to be thinking about the sequel, since the Hollywood star already has some ideas about who could play the character of warioproposing in particular the name of a very popular actor at the moment.

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, Super Mario Bros., the movie was released in our theaters on April 5, 2023. And less than a week after its debut, we see that the animated film based on Nintendo’s cult video game franchise is making a lot of noise, with in particular the creator of the games The Last of Us who recently praised the project.

An animated film that also benefits from a cast of choicewith in particular Chris Pratt in the role of Mario, but also Anya Taylor-Joy in that of Princess Peach, Seth Rogen who embodies Donkey Kong, or even Jack Black who lends his voice to the legendary antagonist of the franchise, Bowser.

And precisely, although the king of Koopa is considered to be Mario’s greatest enemy, Black suggested that this could potentially evolve in the next installment.. Indeed as revealed GameSpot, the American actor began by explaining that the character of Bowser may not be part of the franchise’s future cinematic projects. He then said this:

Bowser’s return is not certain. You know, I did a few Kung Fu Panda movies, and the villain was different in every movie. They may be doing the same thing.

Black will then be asked about the likelihood that Bowser’s character will eventually join the side of the heroes, an idea that seems to be inspiring enough for the actor since he has thus proposed that Pedro Pascalwhich we could see recently in the series The Last of Us, joins the franchise to play another cult rival of Mario, namely Wario. He continued thus:

You know, what if there was a more powerful, more evil villain [que Bowser] ? In that case, I might need to change myself to help Mario and the others defend our universe against another unseen evil force. Are you thinking the same thing as me? Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario.

A proposal that should interest many fans, since Pascal continues to gain popularity as we discover him in different roles. After playing Oberyn Martell in the series Game Of Throneshe still stood out with the series Narcosthen with The Mandolarian and his role as Din Djarin, before playing Joel Miller in Naughty Dog’s latest video game adaptation.

Note that fans had already been able to get a glimpse of Pedro Pascal in the Mario universesince the actor had recently played the protagonist on the occasion of an improbable parody mixing the universe of the Nintendo franchise with that of The Last of Us.
