Spider-Man: Marvel Finally Explains How Tom Holland’s Peter Parker Got His Powers

Last month, we revealed to you that following his arrival on netflixthe film by marvel studios Spider-Man: Far From Home had been a real hit on the streaming platform, rising to first place among the most popular films of the moment. And even more recently, fans were able to learn more about one of the Super hero the most emblematic of Marvel Cinematic Universe (mcu), and in particular on the origins from Peter Parker of Tom Holland and how he got his famous powers.

a story already well (too?) known

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man debuted in Marvel’s film franchise in 2016, with the film Captain America: Civil War. From there, the superhero will return on a recurring basis in the various projects of Marvel Studiosthanks in particular to the series of films centered on his character, which then concluded with the film Spider-Man: No Way Home released last year, and which allowed the return of previous iterations of Monte-en-l’air, namely those of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

But unlike its predecessors, Tom Holland’s version didn’t actually provide any explanation regarding the origins of Peter Parker’s transformation into Spider-Man. If we know that the character was bitten by the famous radioactive spider, the thing is, when Holland was introduced, he had already received his powers and started his superhero “career”.

Faced with these gray areas surrounding the history of the origins of this Spider-Man, some then asked questions. That’s why during a recent interview with Sean O’Connell on the occasion of the release of a new book dedicated to the Head of Canvas, entitled With Great Power, comic book reveals that one of the screenwriters of the films Captain AmericaChristopher Markus, was then questioned on the subject. He was thus asked if Tom Holland’s Peter Parker had obtained his powers in the same way as his predecessors, to which Markus then replied:

I mean, God knows there should be something like that, probably. […] I think he was bitten by a radioactive spider on a school trip. We never really talked about that, but I think that’s what happened.

In another interview, the director of the trilogy Spiderman from the MCU, Jon Wattsalso admitted that he only had “a few vague ideas” regarding the character’s origin story, but without having anything concrete. He then said:

It was just so nice to get past it and deal more with the repercussions…to be able to explore it from the perspective of someone else who is discovering it and having a lot of questions.

The Marvel team therefore seems to have made the choice to leave aside the origins of the superhero (at least for the moment), believing that previous developments have sufficiently introduced the character to the public.
