road house will be entitled to its remake. In talks for years, the project is finally filming under the direction of Doug Liman (Edge Of Tomorrow, Mrs & Mr Smith).

Jake Gyllenhaal succeeds patrick swayze for this new version for Prime Video.

In the 1989 movie, patrick swayze played a big-hearted hard-hitting bouncer at a Mississippi bar who clashed with a corrupt businessman.

For this new version, Jake Gyllenhaal will be a former UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fighter who accepts a job as a bouncer at a speakeasy in the Florida Keys. He quickly discovered that all is not what it seems in this tropical paradise.

“I am honored to add my own touch to the legacy of the much-loved Road House. And I can’t wait to show the public what Jake and I will do with this iconic role.“, Doug Liman shared in a press release.

Besides Jake Gyllenhaal, road house will mark the acting debut of Conor McGregor, UFC champion. We will also find on the screen Daniela Melchor (The Suicide Squad by James Gunn) and Billy Magnussen (Die can wait).

The screenplay was entrusted to Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry, who notably worked on The Nice Guys.

Series B mistreated by critics on its release, road house has since earned its cult action film stripes.

Filmsactu: How was Patrick Swayze?
Richard Kelly: Really cool and nice. He did not hesitate to break his image with this role of spiritual guru. As soon as he accepted, I knew it was going to be perfect. He was not afraid that the film would tarnish his image with the general public. On the contrary. We shot the fake movie commercials for his book on his ranch. And he wore his own clothes from the 80s. He was the one who offered to slick his hair that way. He immediately understood his role.

Drew Barrymore, Patrick Swayze, Noah Wyle are perfect. How did you manage to land so many personalities for your secondary roles?
Thanks to Drew Barrymore. The fact that she agreed to finance a large part of the film with her production company gave us access to recognized actors. I went to see her on the set of the Charlie’s Angels remake to finalize our contract.
