If the circular economy has the wind in its sails, the French do not seem to adhere too much to the idea of repairing more to buy less. Or in any case, they make little use of the “repair bonus” set up by the State, allowing them to receive financial aid when defective devices are repaired by stores with the QualiRépar label. To date, only 20,000 files of this type have indeed been created since the implementation of the system, on December 15, 2022. In an attempt to boost it, the public authorities are making improvements which will be all the more welcome as the prices of the repairs follow the course of inflation and continue to increase.

Detailed review of the announced changes
The various adjustments made to the repair bonus by the government will take effect on July 1st. They include three parts: The flat-rate envelopes are doubled The repair bonus takes the form of a flat-rate discount granted directly by the repairer, who must be labeled “QualiRépar”. This reduction will simply be doubled from July 1st. It will thus increase, for example, from 10 to 20 euros for a toaster. For a vacuum cleaner, an electric scooter or a drill, from 15 to 30 euros. For a games console, from 20 to 40 euros. For a mobile phone, a washing machine or a tablet, the aid granted will no longer be 25 but 50 euros. Finally, repairing a television will now save 60 euros instead of 30, and a laptop, 90 instead of 45. The conditions for obtaining the bonus have been extended To date, around fifty devices have been integrated into device. Others, such as ovens, food processors or desktop computers, should join the list in 2024. Mobile air conditioners or even fans will be part of it by 2025. But the list of eligible products is intended to be enlarged. The idea is that it becomes more and more dense. Already, the Ministry of Ecology has announced that smartphone screens, which were the subject of significant demand, but were excluded from the device, will join it. The QualiRépar network is boosted The repair bonus, as we have seen, is only granted by QualiRépar approved repairers. However, only 1200 are currently on the territory. Increasing their number therefore seems to be pure common sense! To do this, the government evangelizes with major brands such as Apple or Fnac Darty who are dragging their feet! Furthermore, to facilitate the integration of small independents, the cost of the label will be lowered.
The redhibitory conditions which remain valid to benefit from the flat-rate reduction
In addition to the obligation to entrust its equipment to an approved repairer, it must also be covered neither by insurance nor by the legal guarantee period of two years… It is also necessary that the device to be repair either faulty and not broken (including for the smartphone screen). Finally, the amount of the repair must be greater than the fixed discount, and must even, in certain cases, reach a minimum amount (eg: 180 euros for a laptop).
