Notes: The latest summer rumors claimed that Shane Black was about to start filming his predator in Vancouver in September. Although it has yet to be confirmed, the project has since found its first cast member: Oscar-winning Benicio del Toro (lately notable in the big Sicario). As a reminder, Shane Black had confirmed in 2014 that his project was neither a remake nor a reboot, as many might have imagined. For once, the objective is obviously to expand the mythology already in place. This is Deadline who reported the information of the participation of Benicio del Toro, but it is not yet known if the latter will get the main role. Gossip from July 2016 claimed that CAA was pressuring the studio to get one of their clients to get the lead role… the client in question being a certain James Franco. It is interesting to remember that in June 2016, Shane Black had already given the name of his main character (Quinn McKenna), while affirming that the Dutch Arnold Schwarzenegger was not this character. Even further upstream, Arnold Schwarzenegger was already in talks with Black, but nothing has since been confirmed in terms of a possible collaboration. Ironically, Shane Black was playing himself in the predator original… he played Hawkins, the first character to be eliminated by the Predator, it was also the same year as his first two films as a screenwriter (The lethal Weapon and The Monster Squad). For this new episode, Shane Black will take the post of director based on a script he co-wrote with Fred Dekker for 20th Century Fox.
