Netflix: good news for the sequel to this popular film with Chris Hemsworth

Earlier this month, we presented the sequel to this crazy police comedy that was a hit on netflix, many subscribers having been won over by the unlikely duo formed by Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. But even more recently, fans were able to learn more about the sequel to another very popular movie on the streaming platform. A action movie where we find in particular another equally popular Hollywood star, namely Chris Hemsworthknown among other things for playing the Asgardian god Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Among the many flagship films announced by Netflix for 2023, we find in particular the sequel to the film Tyler Rake (Or Extraction in VO) released in 2020, worn by Australian actor Chris Hemsworth. Just like the first installment, the next feature also sees the return of Sam Hargrave to the director, but also that of Joe Russo to the screenplaythe latter being then known for having carried out with his brother Anthony several projects for the MCU, like the films Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Endgame (2019).

With a release date of Tyler Rake 2 which is scheduled for June 16, 2023 on Netflix, fans have already been able to get a little glimpse of Chris Hemsworth in this sequel, thanks to a first trailer shared by the platform a little earlier in the month. And while subscribers are waiting to discover the new adventures of the famous mercenary in this second installment, it seems that a third opus is already in the pipeline if we trust Russo’s latest statements.

Indeed, it was during a recent interview with Collider that the screenwriter of the films has spoken about the possibility of a sequel, although he admitted that a third film was not yet in development. He stated this:

I mean you can never anticipate the audience’s response [concernant Tyler Rake 2]but there’s definitely room for a Tyler Rake 3. There are a few surprises in Tyler Rake 2 that could open up the world of Tyler Rake, and above all I think Sam Hargrave has done an amazing job with this movie, and I think it surpassed the first [film].

It would therefore seem that this sequel has some surprises in store for us, which could give us material to further explore the universe of this new franchise. A point that echoes Russo’s previous statementswhich had already announced in the past that it had plans for an entire extended universe of Tyler Rake. It remains to be seen whether the new opus will manage to seduce the public and thus ensure its future.

For those who missed it, movies Tyler Rake are adapted from the comics City by Ande Parks and the Russo Brothers released in 2014. We discover a former member of the Australian special forces named Tyler Rake, who converted into a mercenary. And after his adventure in India with the son of a crime lord, the various previews of the sequel showed a whole different setting, with the Indian heat giving way to the freezing cold of the north.
