Nadine and Jean-Louis Trintignant’s aborted child: how Françoise Sagan helped her terminate her first pregnancy

Did you know ? Nadine Trintignant had already expected another child from Jean-Louis Trintignant long before the birth of their eldest. But this child never saw the light of day after the director decided to abort it. We tell you more.

As Nadine did not yet have much money at that time, she had asked another famous woman who had helped him. The screenwriter also did not forget the insults of the doctor who operated on that day.

“We owe him money”

Among the names of the greatest French directors are undoubtedly that of Nadine Trintignant. “Forbidden to Know”, “Next Summer” and many other films, are the works of this elegant woman who seems to love wearing glasses.

Works that allowed him to taste success and live in luxury. But if she is now a star, she has faced financial difficulties before. It is also for this reason that she decided to terminate her first pregnancy a few years ago. She also mentioned this subject during her recent interview with Elle magazine.

During this period, Nadine was still in a relationship with Jean-Louis Trintignant and then became pregnant with him. Not having “enough to feed a child”, the octogenarian therefore decided to abort.

As she had no money to do this abortion, the director then turned to one of her friends to ask for it. This friend is none other than Françoise Sagan. After the latter had given him some, Nadine Trintignant quickly went “to a doctor in Geneva”. She had an abortion despite her fear of not being able to have another child.

A few years later, the screenwriter, her companion and her late friend got together to play poker. While Jean-Louis won the game on several occasions and got “crazy money”, she would have whispered in the ear of his darling:

“Don’t take a penny from Françoise, we owe her money”,

speaking of the abortion money.

Still according to the screenwriter, the late woman of letters would not have remembered that day. So she refreshed her memory by talking about the doctor who performed the operation and who “called them dumb”.

THE INFIDELITIES OF JEAN-LOUIS TRINTIGNANT

Together, Jean-Louis and Nadine Trintignant formed one of the most legendary star couples of their generation. It was in 1961 that the two lovebirds said “yes” to each other. After the director’s abortion, they had three more children.

If the two loved each other very much, their daily life was not always rosy. Indeed, passionate about women, Jean-Louis Trintignant had deceived his wife who had forgiven him all the same.

But the actor couldn’t be loyal to the mother of his children and when Nadine got pregnant with their third toddler, he was cheating on her with Romy Schneider. Despite everything, the screenwriter did not hold it against her husband’s mistress. On the contrary, she found her “wonderful”, “very beautiful, intelligent and charming”.

And when Nadine noticed that her marriage was no longer working, she had pushed the actor to go out with Romy.

“Maybe she can make you happy”,

After that, the two lovebirds signed the divorce papers and so it was in the arms of another man that Nadine found love.

DEATH OF A 9 MONTHS DAUGHTER, PAULINE

If Nadine was able to forgive her husband for having been unfaithful to her, it is because she was passionately in love with him.

She told Paris Match in particular that at the start of their relationship, they made a promise that if one of them cheats on the other, they separate. But this one obviously could not do it since she “trusted again” the one she describes as a gentle being, “capable of cruelty”.

It was also during this same time that the couple was confronted with a sad tragedy. Their second daughter, Pauline, died just nine months old, after choking on her bottle. This tragedy marked them and brought him closer despite the infidelities of Jean-Louis Trintignant.

Upset by this loss, the actor still continued to work. He was playing in a play by Bernardo Bertolucci at the time and Nadine visited him from time to time.

“Jean-Louis, in this film, overwhelms me. (…) I watched the film and I saw our daughter Pauline ”,

The two former lovebirds subsequently took a break in their careers after this play.

Note also that in 1971, the one who has just celebrated her 87 years made the film “It only happens to others” by giving the main roles to Catherine Deneuve and Marcello Mastroianni. A fiction that tells the life of the director and Jean-Louis Trintignant during this period when they lost their second child forever.

DEATH OF MARY TRINTIGNANT AFTER THE BLOWS OF HER COMPANION

Unfortunately for Nadine and her ex, Pauline was not the only girl they lost. Indeed, on August 1, 2003, we learned of the death of actress Marie Trintignant, the eldest of Jean-Louis and the director.

The actress was only 41 years old when she succumbed to her injuries due to the beatings given to her by her companion Bertrand Cantat during a violent argument. She was beaten in a hotel in Lithuania where she was staying with her mother and one of her children.

Soon, Marie was flown to France. We kept her alive with a ventilator. Nadine Trintignant’s daughter breathed her last at the Hartmann clinic after being in a coma for several days. She died of swelling of the brain according to doctors’ tests.

Regarding Bernard Catant, he initially denied the fact that he had beaten Nadine Trintignant’s daughter. He had been hospitalized in particular on the day of the tragedy because of heavy alcohol consumption. Two days later, he escaped and the police quickly took him into custody.

By going away forever, Marie Trintignant left behind his parents and his brother Vincent, as well as his four sons: Roman, Paul, Léon and Jules.
