Marvel: Anything Can Happen In The MCU According To Mark Ruffalo

As he explains how the end of Avengers – Infinity War could have turned for his Hulk, Mark Ruffalo says that facing Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans in the future of the mcu is still possible…

Are Iron Man and Captain Rodgers returns possible?

Persistent rumors indicate that the two actors will reprise their respective roles in Avengers – Secret Wars (even if the Tony Stark alias Iron Man sacrificed himself in avengers endgame – for his part, Captain Rodgers is still alive, as far as we know). It’s now the Hulk of the mcu which feeds our hopes for the future of the Marvel universe created from scratch by Kevin Feige.

During an appearance on the Emerald City Comic-Con stage, the actor returned to being one of the only survivors of the Infinity saga: “It’s sad, but there is a time machine. And there are alternate universes and realities, so anything can happen.”

Ruffalo has already been chastised for revealing a bit too much in interviews in the past, so he was quick to clarify that this was not a spoiler: “[Rires, regards au plafond] Will one of these boards fall on me? Dude, are you trying to get me in trouble again? I’m not going to say it’s not possible, but I’m not going to say it is.”

The end of Infinity War for the Hulk:

If we remember correctly, the trailer for Avengers – Infinity War ended with an impressive shot of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes charging into battle, with the Hulk among them. However, in the film’s final cut, Bruce Banner never actually took the Hulk out, suggesting a major change had to be made. Combine that with a series of merchandise showing the Jade Gauntlet emerging from the Hulkbuster armor, and it looks like Marvel Studios have changed course over time.

Rather than seeing the Hulk make a comeback in the final battle, it was decided that Bruce would be unable to transform, leaving the team without one of its strongest members. This also means that by the time we found the green Goliath in Avengers – Endgame, he had become Smart Hulk. It is still at Emerald City Comic-Con that Ruffalo also returned to the ends that were considered for his character in avengers 3 :

“We were spinning [Avengers –] Infinity Warand the Hulk was supposed to come out of the Hulkbuster at the end, and we shot that, we shot it four times and it didn’t work, and we realized – well, the [frres Russo] realized – that we couldn’t have the Hulk saving everyone new, and that we had to have a losing Banner. It was the kind of thing where it was in the script in a way for two years and then when we came in for the shoot, we decided it would be better if the Hulk didn’t show up, and Banner had to try to befriend him so he shows up. We shot this scene about 5 times in a year. Me, all alone, in the Hulkbuster.”
