Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, launches her musical career with a nod to Lady Gaga

Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, has launched her musical career with her first single “Lock&Key”, which contains a nod to Lady Gaga.

On Wednesday, August 24, the 25-year-old model released the song under the stage name Lolahol.

Co-produced by Eartheater, the single combines Leon’s smooth vocals with experimental electro beats, producing fast-paced, nightclub bebop.

“No sleep, next plane, no sleep, make-up, next club, next car, next plane, no sleep, no fear [Sin dormir, próximo avión, sin dormir, maquillaje, próximo club, próximo auto, próximo avión, sin dormir, sin miedo]”, Leon sings on the track.

The lyrics seem like a reference to the “Bad Romance” singer’s response in a past interview to describe her work ethic and lifestyle: “No sleep, bus, club, another club, another club, plane, next place, without sleeping, without fear”.

Gaga and Madonna have a complex history. In 2011, some Madonna fans accused Gaga of copying her 1989 song “Express Yourself” for the 2011 song “Born This Way.”

Madonna addressed the controversy during a 2012 interview with ABC, saying that Gaga’s song “feels reductive.”

However, the two later put to rest the feud rumors with a 2019 Instagram photo of them embracing at Madonna’s post-Oscars party.

Leon is the only daughter that Madonna has with her ex, Carlos Leon. She also has two sons, Rocco Ritchie, 22, and David Banda, 16, who she has with another former partner, director Guy Ritchie; and her daughters Mercy, 16, and twins Estere and Stella, 10.

“Lock&Key” marks Leon’s debut as a solo artist. He previously worked with his mother on his 2012 song “Superstar.”
