Before he left Harry Potter Behind, Daniel Radcliffe was carving out a unique career path for himself. Radcliffe’s parents initially discouraged his dream of acting, but he did things on his terms once he finished playing. Harry Potter. However, if it weren’t for Potter and the endless rush of publicity appearances for the movies, you may not have been lucky enough to land the lead role in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
Radcliffe began to carve out a unique career path during his run on ‘Harry Potter’
While I was still busy making Potter films, Radcliffe found time to add other lines to his resume. She starred in several productions of the play equusand filmed december kids during his Potter season, by IMDb.
Radcliffe’s unique career choices didn’t stop when he left the wizarding world.
His first three post-Potter the movies were horror/drama Black woman, kill your loved ones (in which he played beat poet Allen Ginsberg), and horns. In the midst of that run, Radcliffe spent nearly a year on Broadway starring in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Radcliffe later played a flatulent corpse in swiss army manan FBI agent trying to infiltrate a neo-Nazi group in empireand a man made to compete in a real-life battle to the death in guns in jars.
In short, one could describe the post-Potter such a rare race However, Radcliffe as ‘Weird Al’ might not have happened were it not for the franchise that made him a household name.
‘Lucky’ Radcliffe beat out ‘Weird Al’ years ago and effectively won the role in the upcoming biopic
Radcliffe as ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic is officially in the works. The release date is unknown, but the filming of the biopic, where he plays the famous comedian, began in 2021. However, the wheels began to turn much earlier.
As Radcliffe told Jimmy Fallon during a visit to the tonight show (via YouTube), he could have won the role of ‘Weird Al’ years earlier on another talk show.
During an appearance on The Graham Norton ShowRadcliffe sang “The Elements.” Tom Lehrer’s 1959 song lists the elements of the periodic table to the tune of “Major General’s Song” from The Pirates of Penzance of Gilbert and Sullivan. Apparently, that was enough for ‘Weird Al’ to know that he had found the perfect actor to star in his biopic.
“When I first spoke to Al, I said, ‘I’m immensely flattered that you’d cast me to play you, but why me?’ You know, I’m baffled but excited. And apparently, like 13 or 14 years ago, I sang a cover of a Tom Lehrer song on The Graham Norton Show in the United Kingdom. I sang ‘The Elements’ with Colin Farrell and a very bewildered Rihanna, who was like, ‘Who is this kid? And why is he singing all the elements?’
“And I guess Al saw that and said, ‘This guy might get it.’ And so [he] He chose me. So I’m very lucky.”
That’s Radcliffe’s version of how he got the part of ‘Weird Al’. However, his timing is a bit off.
Radcliffe sang “The Elements” during a November 2010 stop on Norton’s couch, around the time Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 hit theaters, which would have been about 11 years before he and Fallon got into an argument Weird: The Al Yankovic Story in 2021.
Radcliffe playing parody song superstar Yankovic may seem like overkill, but he’s something of an old soul.
The former ‘Harry Potter’ star has an old soul
‘Weird Al’ Yankovic rose to fame long before Radcliffe was born in 1989. The 60-year-old singer might be Radcliffe’s father, but Radcliffe’s likes are older than his age, and it’s not just about being a fan of Radcliffe. Tom Lehrer.
His taste for movies leans towards the classics. One of his favorite movies is the one from 1946. Stairway to Heaven, starring David Niven. He is also a fan of the 2001 teen romantic comedy. Get overbut Radcliffe waxes poetic about Stairway to Heaven.
Though still a long way from his 40th birthday, Radcliffe felt old twice before reaching his fifth decade. Once was when he played Minecraft with his godson, and the other was when he saw Olivia Rodrigo at the White House and had no idea why she was famous enough to be there.
If Radcliffe has tried anything since he left Harry Potter behind, is that he craves eclectic material for his career. Radcliffe as ‘Weird Al’ seems like a perfect fit.
