Nicole Kidman, who should play the role of Lucille Ball, has already conquered the only daughter of the late actress.
The actress is expected to play the “I Love Lucy” icon in Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming biopic titled “Being the Ricardos”. The film follows Ball and her husband Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem) through a week of production on the beloved 1950s sitcom.
Arnaz, who visited the set for two days, praised the “very great performers” who are “extremely classy and top notch” when it comes to representing his parents. She particularly applauded Kidman, 54, for his “spectacular work.”
“The two days I watched, however, were both little flashbacks, so [Nicole] played Lucy in the late 1930s and mid 1940s, ”the 70-year-old told Palm Springs Life on Wednesday. She wasn’t Lucy Ricardo’s Lucy yet, so it was a little different. ”

“And I know she wanted it to be, so it might sound different,” Arnaz continued. “But boy, what she did was amazing. She has so much composure and class. “
The coworker said she was aware that many fans of her mother were surprised that Kidman was cast for the role. However, Arnaz said she was not taken aback by the reviews.
“There are no doubles,” she explained. “I mean, no one was chosen because they look exactly like someone. They were chosen because they are performers, spectacular actors and they can capture the basic essence of what was written in this script. And Aaron was adamant about it and thank goodness. Can’t wait to see the finished product. “
Still, Arnaz admitted to the outlet that there were “certain scenes” that she “wished” that Sorkin, 60, had not included in the film. Arnaz did not provide specific details on the scenes in question.

“I couldn’t manage and get them taken out, but they weren’t specific,” Arnaz said. “And I thought, ‘It shouldn’t be there because it never happened. This is not true. And that’s not just a movie license, it just wasn’t true. And the day they shot the scene, the sprinklers went off on the set and destroyed the whole set. ”
I Love Lucy ″ featured Desi as conductor Ricky Ricardo, Ball as his wife Lucy, and William Frawley and Vivian Vance as neighbor owners Fred and Ethel Mertz. It operated from 1951 to 1961 and is still seen in reruns around the world.
The show was produced at Desilu studios in Arnaz and Miss Ball. From that series, the couple developed Desilu into a major TV production company which, at its peak, produced over 19 TV shows, including The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, ″ ″ The Untouchables, ″ ″ December Bride, ″ ″ Willy, ″ ″ Our Miss Brooks, ″ ″ Make Room for Daddy, ″ ″ Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse, ″ ″ The Web ″ and shows with Ray Bolger and George Gobel.
Ball and Desi were married from 1940 to 1960. The Patriarch died in 1986 at the age of 68 from lung cancer. Ball died in 1989 at the age of 77. She suffered a ruptured aorta after undergoing heart surgery. The couple is survived by a daughter and a son.

In June, Kidman told Chris Rock during a conversation for Variety that she was determined to capture Ball the right way onscreen.
“I must have devoted a lot of time to Lucille Ball at the moment because she has a very special way of speaking,” Kidman explained at the time.
The star added that she was “hopefully” funny in the role.
“What’s weird about Lucille Ball is that everyone thinks we’re doing the ‘I Love Lucy’ series again, and it’s really not that,” she said. . “It’s about Lucy and Desi and their relationship and marriage. It’s very deep in fact. “
“Being the Ricardos” currently has no official release date.
