Leisure – Street theatre, pyrotechnics, rock music… Les Flo’lies sur Cher, a three-day festival in mid-August in Saint-Florent

It’s the return of the Flo’lies to Cher. Launched last year as a trial balloon, the festival returns this summer, still in mid-August, for three shows in three days.

The festival kicks off on Thursday, August 18, with the new street theater creation by AFAG Théâtre (for “Au fond à gauche”). The Real Life of Pirates is a one-hour show held in the middle of the spectators, the hallmark of the Norman company.

With a lot of energy and invention, the four actors embark us on the ship of Balthazar the pirate. A being without faith or law, a shaggy and wild fellow, who is the terror of the oceans. Even sardines are afraid of it.

Friday, August 19, place at the fireworks show “Ignipotens”. A whirlwind of flames and sparks.

Friday August 19, place at the pyrotechnics show Ignipotenswhich narrates the fight between firebenders. A whirlwind of flames and sparks combined with dance, acrobatics, martial arts. The result is spectacular. A creation of the Belgians of Pyronix Production.

A festival designed for the outdoors and all audiences

Finally, on Saturday August 20, it’s time for music with the Watt Else concert. Since 2010, the group lines up covers of rock hits, blues, nuggets of funk.
Their repertoire ranges from Nirvana to Led Zepellin, from Ray Charles to the White Stripes, from Jimi Hendrix to AC/DC, Stevie Wonder, The Police…

This summer meeting was imagined by the cultural service of Saint-Florent, and the elected representative for culture Marie-Line Cire. “A festival designed for the outdoors, so that as many people as possible have access to culture “, explains Aline Chédeville, deputy head of the cultural service.

The Flo’lies will therefore be held at the green theater of the city, in the park of the castle. “In case of rain, a withdrawal is planned at the Aragon center. Except for the pyrotechnic show which can only be held outdoors. It will therefore be canceled in the event of bad weather,” says Aline Chédeville.

An air of vacation before the start of the school year

The other requirement was that the shows should be open to the general public, so that the spectators come with their families. “Mid-August, for many, it’s the end of the holidays,” continues Aline Chédeville. This festival will prolong them a bit. »

The idea is for this meeting to continue, and now face part of the summer festivities.
