Keanu Reeves leaves Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese series for Hulu

Having spent the last few years moving between bloody mercenaries or late sequels to some of his big movies, it seemed that Keanu Reeves I was going to face his first project away from blood and weapons with the Hulu series The Devil in the White City. But it turns out that in the end it will not be like that.

as announced Variety, Reeves has decided to leave the series he was going to star in, just two months after his signing was announced. Neither the actor’s representatives nor those of the streaming service have clarified the reasons for his departure, from what would have been his first big role on television.

Another bump for this project that has been trying to get ahead since 2010 when Leonardo DiCaprio picked up the rights to adapt Erik Larson’s novel The Devil in the White City. After a long development process, in 2015, Martin Scorsese joined the project as director of a possible film.

After seeing the difficulties involved in translating this story to the big screen, DiCaprio and Scorsese stepped back and remained as producers executives of a series with screenwriter Sam Shaw (Castle Rock) as showrunner and developer of the series, which is initially held to premiere at some point on Hulu.

We do not know if the plans to shoot the DiCaprio and Scorsese series interfered with Warner’s new plans for Reeves, who has been forced to leave this project. Well, as announced less than a month ago, The studio has greenlit a Constantine sequel. in which Reeves will return as the protagonist.
