The promo machine can be quite exhausting for an actor talking about a new movie, even if everyone is nice to you. So have a thought for poor Jonah Hill, who was savagely mocked live on French television while he was doing the press for Dogs of war in 2016. Watch the brutal scenes below:
Hill was featured on the flagship program of the French channel CanalPlus The Grand Journal, promote Joker The black comedy from director Todd Phillips, alongside his co-star Miles Teller.
However, the apparition didn’t quite go as planned for the Great times actor, while the weather reporter for the show Ornella Fleury made fun of him during an awkward exchange.
Fleury spoke in French, with Hill receiving her translated comment through an earpiece. The mischievous presenter began by referring to a scene from the 2013 comedy thriller It is the end, where Hill has sex with a monster.
She said, “When I saw you getting fucked in the ass by a three-meter-tall demon in It is the end, I said to myself: ‘Now this is the man of my dreams!’ ”
Hill responded by saying, “I hear you guys get fucked in the ass quite often. “
Not very nice, but… well, that’s the level of talk we’re dealing with here.
However, this did not seem to deter Fleury and she insisted on describing her “sexual fantasy”.
She explained, “We would meet in a hotel room at night.
“We were chatting, you made me laugh. And then all of a sudden you were taking your friends [Leonardo] DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, and then you’d go. ”
The squeaky conversation ended with Hill saying, “I’m glad I came on this show to get ridiculed by your local weather forecaster. ”
While on camera, the actor was able to keep his cool, although it was reported that he subsequently chose to withdraw from any promotional work for the film in France.
However, this turned out not to be true.
For her part, Fleury issued a formal apology, saying she felt like she knew Hill for having seen him in theaters for over a decade.
“I really felt like I knew you,” she said.
“I thought I was joking with a friend, but the reality is we’re not friends. ”
She then joked that Hill had two Oscar nominations and had worked with directors such as Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino, while she only had a kitchen sponge ad on her resume.
The interview took place at a time when The Grand Journal was losing viewers amid various changes in the tone and content of the presentation. The show was ultimately canceled just months after the interview, as audiences plummeted.
As for Dogs of war, it didn’t do much better, although it did at least have gross worldwide box office receipts of $ 86.2 million against a budget of $ 40 million.
