Jennifer Lawrence feels ‘old’ about ‘The Hunger Games’ prequel

Between 2012 and 2015 Jennifer Lawrence starred, as Katniss Everdeen, in all four installments of The Hunger Games. Based on the homonymous literary saga of SuzanneCollinsthis dystopia young adult paved Lawrence’s path to fame in combination with success indie Winter’s Boneto his role in the saga X Men from First generation and his presence in The good side of things, which finally gave him the Oscar. They were frenetic years where, as the actress recently recalled, she came to feel like a commodity and lose control of her career, but now everything has stabilized. Lawrence can choose projects more carefully, and also assume that those years are behind her.

The actress now works with the young Andrew Barth Feldman in an upcoming movie No Hard Feelingsand declares for a profile of the New York Times that “Working alongside a 20-year-old is very depressing.” But nothing has been as forceful in terms of assimilating his age as the launch of a new installment of The Hunger Games seven years after Mockingjay: Part 2. “Let’s face it, I’m only getting closer to 40”he declares, although he also points out that luckily the pressure he suffered in his first projects “has been left behind”. Now you can calmly watch how the phenomenon that consecrated you continues, through a prequel entitleda Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents directed by Francis Lawrence, who has already worked with her on three films in the franchise as well as on red sparrow.

Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents is based on the homonymous novel by Collins, and aims to narrate the origin of the great villain of The Hunger Games: President Coriolanus Snow whom we met with the face of Donald Sutherland. In the prequel he will be played by Tom Blyth (blessing), and the mere production of this film makes Lawrence feel old. “Old as mold”specifically. “I remember being 21 years old and thinking: ‘My God, one day they will make a remake. But by then it should be very old! I’ll be dead!’”. The rhythms of Hollywood, however, have determined that Lionsgate produces in less time than expected a reboot for The Hunger Gameswhich, if it works, could perfectly accommodate some kind of continuation.

Lawrence, moreover, is perfectly aware of what The Hunger Games meant for his career. “Jennifer Lawrence is Katniss Everdeen, I guess. Is that weird?”he concludes. Ballad of Songbirds and Serpentsin addition to Blyth, has in the cast Viola Davis, Hunter Schafer, Peter Dinklage and two interpreters arrived from West Side Story: Rachel Zegler Y Josh Rivera. The film is scheduled for release on November 17, 2023.
