What is the plot of Slumberland?
The Netflix series Slumberland will be based on the 1905 comic strip Little Nemo in Wonderland by Winsor McCay. In the original comic, the plot follows a young boy, but the Netflix adaptation will instead follow a young girl with a small change in the name of the original character, thus Nemo becomes Nema. Here is the official logline of the film:
“A young girl, Nema, with the help of a large half-man/half-monster creature, travels to a mystical land in her dreams in search of her missing Father. Nema, 11, lives in a lighthouse with her father, Peter, who taught her how to sail. Unfortunately, Peter dies one night during a storm at sea. Nema is sent to her uncle Philip, who is annoying and nothing like Peter. Nema discovers in her dreams a world called “Slumberland”. She encounters Flip (Momoa), a creature who claims to have been an outlaw with Peter years ago, stealing items from other people’s dreams. Nema decides to go on an adventure with Flip when he claims to know a way for her to wish her father back.

Production of the film began on February 8, 2021 in Toronto, Canada, and ends on May 18, 2021. In April 2021, Netflix officially released the first image of the film.
