Jared Leto: Before the Marvel Vampire, an Apple TV+ series about the rise and fall of a megalomaniac billionaire

The aptly named WeCrashed recounts the meteoric rise of entrepreneur Adam Neumann during the 2010s and his equally dramatic fall. Worn by Jared Leto, future vampire of “Morbius”, the series is available on Apple TV+.

What is it about ?

A series inspired by real events and the love story at the heart of events. WeWork was a shared office startup that in less than ten years became a $47 billion global brand. Before losing 40 billion in less than a year. What happened ?

WeCrashed, with Jared Leto, Anne Hathaway, Kyle Marvin, OT Fagbenle and America Ferrera. Three episodes available March 18, then one episode every Friday on Apple TV+.

An amazing true story

Based on the WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork podcast, the series takes us to a colorful character: Adam Neumann. This flamboyant Israeli who grew up in a kibbutz describes himself in the show created by Lee Eisenberg and Drew Crevello as a serial entrepreneur.

After several failed attempts to get rich, the young man with devouring ambition has the idea of founding a company of coworking spaces with Miguel McKelvey. The stars then align and the duo see their start-up grow to become a $47 billion company.

WeCrashed recounts all this, but also, of course, the vertiginous fall that the entrepreneur experienced ten years later when his outbursts, his repeated excesses, his eccentricity and his megalomania earned him to be ejected by his own board of directors…

A story well known to specialists in the business world, but perhaps not to the general public who will understand, thanks to the series, how such a man was able to reach such a high level solely on the strength of his glibness and his determination.

The couple he forms with Rebekah – a cousin of Gwyneth Paltrow! – is also at the heart of the plot of this 8-episode mini-series which is especially worth a look for its interpreters, Oscar winners Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway.

As usual, the one that we will find in the cinema in Morbius on March 30, completely disappears behind the billionaire, as charismatic as it is controversial, adopting his characteristic accent. While the second is just as fantastic in the skin of his wife who is looking for a place in the world.
