James Franco reconsiders his sexual misconduct (and is saddened to no longer see Seth Rogen)

James Franco returned to the accusations of sexual misconduct that appeared against him in 2018, as well as his relationship with his ex-friend Seth Rogen.

After accusations of sexual misconduct or “misconduct” (literal translation of “misconduit”, original term) and of “grooming” (American term designating a process of creation of confidence to put a younger person in his grip and something sexual) which occurred in 2018, James Franco was somewhat missing, except for his appearance in the series. The Deuce, between 2017 and 2019.

It was during an interview with Jess Cagle for SiriusXM that James Franco responded to these accusations. As a reminder, besides the “grooming”, Franco had been accused of organizing in his classes on the “sex scenes” exercises of a sexual nature to which he allegedly subjected female students.

Although he was never taken to court, he admitted part of the facts, while continuing to claim that his students consented:

“During my teaching career, I slept with students, and it was wrong. […] But like I said, that is not why I started a teaching career and I was not the person who chose the people who attended my classes. So it wasn’t all part of a gigantic plan on my part. But yeah, there were times when, you know, it was something agreed to with a student, and it shouldn’t have happened. […] At that time, I was not clear-headed, as I said. So I stuck to criteria like ‘If it’s okay, it’s okay. We’re all adults so … ‘”

The actor explained that today he is a new man, who has done a lot of work on himself, for example by taking a period to detoxify himself from certain substances (his detox dates from before the revelations of his students). However, he concluded on this subject by saying “taking his time and using his withdrawal period to start looking at who he is, and who he has been.”

He also took the opportunity to talk about the one who has always been his friend, Seth Rogen, repeatedly questioned about his friendship with the actor since 2018 and the revelations about Franco:

“I just want to say, I absolutely love Seth Rogen. I love Seth Rogen. I worked with him for 20 years and we never had an argument. In 20 years, not an argument. He is my most co-worker. close, my closest colleague. We were just fine together … What he said is true. We are not working on anything together at the moment, and we have no intention of doing it. “

He also returned to the responsibility that Seth Rogen and his brother had to shoulder after his silence: “Obviously what he might have said was hurtful in the context, but I understand, you know, he had to answer for my actions because I was silent. He had to answer for me and I don’t want to. And that’s why, you know, I want to tell you today that I don’t want Seth Rogen or my brother [Dave Franco] or whoever, be answerable for my actions. “

We can easily understand Seth Rogen, who, in May 2021, returned to a joke he had made about the actions of James Franco in 2014, regretting his gritty humor, and expressing that he no longer wanted to working with the 43-year-old actor again.
