Frankia Yucon 6.0 GD: the luxurious, sporty and expensive 4×4 van for 2!

In the vast world of the fitted van, manufacturers play on several fronts. There are those, the most numerous, who want to offer the maximum to four people for a contained cost and, much more rarely, the others who draw a premium and luxurious offer, sometimes for only two people.

This last option is thus the case of Frankia with its Yukon 6.0 GD, which sits prominently these days at the SVDL in Le Bourget on the manufacturer’s stand. A particularly visually attractive van, undeniably reflecting the image of a high-end and sporty vehicle. Camped on 16” rims (optional) well marked by the impressive wheel arches, the Yucon 6.0 GD rests on a Mercedes Sprinter 410 CDI with 190 horsepower, a turbo diesel engine associated with a 9-speed automatic transmission. A beautiful aesthetic beast, but nevertheless compact with its template 5.93m long for a height of 2.74m and a width of 2.02m.

Two, only two!

Inside, the Yucon shelters its two occupants under a generous ceiling height of 1.89m. A couple of lovers or friends but no more, since the van does not have a bench seat but only swivel dinette seats, allowing you to turn towards the table in the living room area. In the kitchen, the minimum is in place: a two-burner stove and a protected sink, and an extendable worktop when the bed on the right side is not in use. The volume of 69l refrigerator will be enough to store food and drinks for the two people of Yucon. The advantage of this compression fridge? It opens on both sides and therefore remains accessible from inside and outside.

4 wheel drive and the adventure is crazier!

Classically heated via a Combi-4-TRUMA heating-water heater and carrying a total volume of clean water of 100l, the German van is offered in the catalog in single propulsion but also, as an option, with all-wheel drive. Thus equipped with four-wheel drive, the Yucon will be able to get off the beaten track for a much more adventurous and exciting off-road vanlife experience.

On the side of the bathroom equipped with a real door, the driver and passenger of the van will do with a reduced but clever space, where the toilets do not nibble the space dedicated to the shower. One of the big strengths of the Yucon 6.0 GD lies in its storage capacity, numerous, and of high capacity., scattered throughout the passenger compartment, including LED-lit overhead cupboards. A real advantage for a couple seeking to isolate themselves far from “civilization”, even for a relatively long period.

The high price to pay

Finally, at the rear, Frankia’s leisure vehicle has twin beds of 1.95m and 1.90m long. Clever beds, under which again you can store storage thanks in particular to the folding headboards. A “night” part, which also delivers ample natural light, thanks to the integration of various skylights, not to mention the roof dome, allowing you to plant your nose in the sky at night. There remains the bill to pay to travel in first class mode: Frankia’s Yucon 6.0 GD 4×4 is marketed from… €100,720, while the version exhibited at the 2022 Leisure Vehicles Show in Le Bourget, certainly full of options, is displayed at €127,265.
