Finch poster sends Tom Hanks into the Apocalypse with his dog and robot companions

The first poster was unveiled for Bullfinch, an Apple and Amblin sci-fi drama starring Tom Hanks. Hanks is leading the cast as a robotics engineer in hopes of bringing in robots to care for his dog once he’s gone, and the new poster reveals a good look at the character with his best friends . Bullfinch drops on Apple TV + in November, and for now, you can check out the new poster below.

In Bullfinch, Hanks plays the main character, a “robotics engineer and one of the few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event that left the world fallow.” But Finch, who has lived in an underground bunker for a decade, has built a world of his own which he shares with his dog, Goodyear. He creates a robot, played by Caleb Landry Jones, to watch over Goodyear when he can’t anymore. As the trio embark on a perilous journey through a desolate American West, Finch strives to show his creation, named Jeff, the joy and wonder of what it means to be alive. “

Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones) directs Bullfinch from a screenplay by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell. Powell also produces alongside Kevin Misher, Jack Rapke and Jacqueline Levine. Amblin, Reliance Entertainment and Walden Movie are the companies behind the production.

If there’s anyone who can play that kind of role, it’s Tom Hanks. Consider also that Hanks has a habit of playing a lone man as the star of Castaway, but all he had at the time was a volleyball. Apple previously posted a first photo of Tom Hanks in Finch, which was previously titled biography, and that single image was enough to get her fans excited for the movie.

This is the second major project with Hanks picked up by Apple Original Films. The company has already acquired the WWII thriller Doggy style from Sony Pictures, a film also written by Hanks. It stars Hanks as the Commander of the United States Navy on his first wartime mission to defend a convoy of merchant ships against submarines during the Battle of the Atlantic in 1942. While Tom Hanks had the heartbroken by its streaming release, it made its Apple TV + debut in July 2020 to great success, garnering good reviews from critics and an Oscar nomination for Best Sound.

“As a guy who goes back and forth to WWII over and over again, I see a direct correlation with life as it’s being lived right now,” Hanks said of his inspiration for Doggy style, via EW. “I see the same questions asked and the same solutions sought in the stories of WWII, although they are period pieces, although they are museum pieces that recreate a world. For me, it was always about: what would we do if we were in the same circumstances? And guess what? We are in a lot of these circumstances right now.

Bullfinch will premiere on Apple TV + on November 5. There will also be a lot more of Tom Hanks where it came from. He is also expected to appear as Colonel Tom Parker in the upcoming Elvis biopic alongside Austin Butler as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Hanks will also play Geppetto in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake Pinocchio.
