Filming – Part of the series The New Look, with Juliette Binoche and Maisie Williams, was filmed in Haute-Vienne

The series, partly shot “in Paris and France” (the communication elements remain a little vague…), should be broadcast on Apple TV + in 2023. In Saint-Yrieix, from July 19, extras and actors have gone back in time. Discreetly, the shooting being “confidential”.

For The New LookMaisie Williams leaves her Arya Stark rebel warrior costume and puts on pretty dresses and a pearl necklace to embody Catherine Dior, the sister of Christian Dior, played by Ben Mendelsohn, who is also immersed in a universe much more down to earth than that of Star Wars. Juliette Binoche, who filmed in Creuse in 2016 with Gérard Depardieu, turns into… Coco Chanel during the series, directed by Todd A. Kessler.

On the decor side, there is also a star, the steam locomotive 140 C 38, which has already shown its panache in the films The 7th Companyas well as in The Guardianspart of which was also shot in Limousin.

The team of enthusiasts, who pamper and operate the locomotive, took a few days on a slightly different line from Limoges-Eymoutiers or Limoges-Bugeat, which they regularly take to bring the old locomotive and its wagons to Saint -Yrieix. A precious decor, especially when it comes to going back to the time of the Second World War and the post-war years.

140 C 38, star of the big screen and tourist circuits

In the past, the steam engine had also played its part in Frantzfilmed in Eymoutiers and several times in the series A French Village. But like the real stars, she knows how to be modest: she resumed her tourist trips this week, with, on board the wagons she tows, many strangers… no doubt proud to approach such a star.
