Event – Open your eyes in the libraries of Cher

It begins on Saturday September 3, in Neuilly-en-Sancerre, with the discovery of cyanotype, this extremely simple and monochrome photographic process. And it ends at the end of November in Saint-Michel-de-Volangis, with workshops to create a photo novel. This fall, twenty-nine libraries in the department are organizing events on the theme of photography, coordinated and financed by the Cher Media Library.

A territory project

“This allows libraries to build events for the general public and thus broaden the circle of attendance,” explains Thierry Valladon, director of culture at the departmental council. We help structures to set up their project, to find professionals. We also lend resources: books, films, music… This creates a territorial project. »

The budget for the operation is 20,000 euros, for an average budget of 700 to 800 euros per library. “The Cher Media Library is building a place for itself in entertainment,” continues Sophie Chestier, vice-president of the departmental council in charge of culture and heritage. It is important to see it other than as a place of inventory management. We think that the public who comes for an exhibition, may want to take their membership card afterwards. »
