Dwayne Johnson Says Old WB Regime Didn’t Want To Bring Henry Cavill Back As Superman | Pretty Reel

Spoiler alert: This article contains potential spoilers for Black Adam The internet is abuzz with rumors of a massive cameo in Black Adam, and Dwayne Johnson, who plays the titular antihero, has also teased a potential character showdown. beloved DC comic book for the past few days.

The character in question is Superman, and Henry Cavill is rumored to be returning to the DCEU. Cavill’s return hasn’t been officially confirmed, but recent comments and early reactions from Johnson all point to Superman’s appearance in Black Adam.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has seemingly confirmed the same in a new interview.

“I think it not only serves Black Adam, but the wider DC Universe as well. But more importantly, it takes care of the fans. And that’s what you want your main foot to be. So, yeah, the phone calls, the meetings… But, man, those were years man. Six years for this to be done. I’ll say it again, six years we started on this and they kept saying no. Now that leadership is gone and we are ushering in a new era of the DC Universe. »

Although Johnson hasn’t explicitly stated that Henry Cavill will appear as Superman in Black Adam, it’s almost certain that he will. Six years ago, Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Zack Snyder were supposed to start work on Justice League 2, and Black Adam had yet to be greenlit.

WB had big plans for Superman, but they were put on hold following Snyder’s departure from the DCEU and Cavill’s Netflix deal. The studio had considered introducing Supergirl as a replacement, along with a standalone Black Superman movie. Both projects were put on hold after the company was reshuffled by the new CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zazlav.

Shazam! and Peacemaker also featured a faceless version of Henry Cavill’s Superman, but it looks like the character is set to appear in full glory again in the DCEU. And all thanks to The Rock.

Black Adam will expand the DCEU

Pictures from Warner Bros.

After many standalone films, WBD has finally managed to come up with a long-term plan for its most popular franchise right now, the DC Extended Universe. Black Adam and The Flash are set to reboot and expand the DCEU, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom also bringing Ben Affleck back as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Some might say it’s a few years too late, but at least we won’t get another revamp. And three very different Batmans at the same time is every fan’s dream scenario. Hopefully the WBD won’t make more mistakes in the future.

As Black Adam, a leaked post-credits scene is circulating the web that confirms a brief appearance of Henry Cavill’s Superman. All of these retakes weren’t just quality control measures, it seems. Dwayne Johnson also said he plans to fight both Superman and Shazam, probably not in the same movie, but that’s the main focus. In fact, Black Adam was supposed to first appear in Shazam! before having a solo film.

Black Adam also marks the live-action debut of the Justice Society of America, and it won’t be long before fans see the team on the big screen. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam will be presented on October 21, 2022.
