Doctor Strange 2: The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) should have been in the Illuminati: the mystery of the last chair revealed?

A month and a half after the long-awaited release of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madnessrumors continue to swarm around the Illuminatiwhich were the main attraction of the feature film of Sam Raimi. With many surprises in store for fans, the film revealed Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Mordo (Chiwetel Eijofor), Mr. Fantastic (John Krasinski), Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell), Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch) and Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart). Many have however noticed that a chair was empty during the Illuminati council which has fueled wild theories.

Some thought it was occupied by the Supreme Doctor Strangeexecuted by the council after his victory over Thanos when other rumors were of characters planned before filming, which were ultimately scrapped. Balder The Bravebrother of Thorcould have been introduced with the features of the actor Daniel Craig. Deadline’s Justin Kroll has revealed in a recent tweet that Krasinsky wasn’t originally slated to appear in the film, but the original actor – who he teased as Daniel Craig using a GIF – dropped the project amid a rise in COVID cases in the UK. Rumors said that his fate was going to be the same as that of his colleagues Illuminati namely that wanda would have gone into his head so that he would commit suicide.

“So someone sent me a list of five characters who were going to be in this movie that got cut… I said [à ma source] “Was it one of those movies? And that person said, “Filmed but ultimately cut from the theatrical version…Ghost Rider, [qui était un] very interesting…member of the Illuminati…I guess he was going [probablement] fight Wanda and probably die…”

But the screenwriter Doctor Strange 2, Michael Waldron, may have just put an end to the mystery of the empty armchair in the film. Indeed, the film clearly implies that Mordo works with the Illuminati but that he is not strictly speaking a member of the board since he succeeded the Supreme Doctor Strange. Near The Direct, Waldron revealed that he was imagining a variation of the Wasp, to take the last council seat. He also revealed that the fate of the Wasp would have been the same as his companions Illuminati and that his death would have been inspired by the film Aliens :

“I think I watched Aliens and just thought about how these Marines are slaughtered, and, yeah, I was glad it worked out. I think originally the Wasp was in some version of the Illuminati, and the Wasp shrunk and flew on Wanda, and [Wanda] just clapped his hands and just smothered Wasp in the first draft. »

The Wasp will return in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, which will arrive in theaters in the summer of 2023. The Illuminati will have an as yet unknown project with Marvel.
