Did Yves Rome “treat” a nice car for cheap when he left the presidency of the General Council of Oise? – Oise Hebdo

Yves Rome will know on December 15 whether or not he is convicted. – Photo credit: Facebook.

It is a defendant like no other who appeared this Thursday, November 17 before the Beauvais Criminal Court. Yves Rome, now 72 years old, was indeed for eleven years, from April 1, 2004 to April 2, 2015, the socialist president of the General Council of the Oise. Seeing him speak at the bar reserved for the defendants, he who was more accustomed to speaking in the stands reserved for political figures, was something surreal. Or pathetic, depending.

Yves Rome, who was also a deputy (from 1997 to 2002) then a senator (from 2011 to 2017), is being prosecuted for “Illegal taking of interests by a public elected official in a matter which he administers or supervises committed from January 1, 2015 to March 30, 2015 in Beauvais“.

An unbeatable price

Defended by Hugo Nauche, who was a candidate for the municipal elections in Bornel, also in the colors of the Socialist Party, Yves Rome had to explain himself on the acquisition of a two-year-old Peugeot 508 hybrid and only 7914 kilometers on the meter at a price of 16,000 euros. The Argus, the reference in the matter, would have estimated this vehicle at 25,000 euros…

Where the case takes all its salt is that this car belonged to the Departmental Council of Oise and that Yves Rome bought it the day after his defeat in the cantonal elections and his dismissal from the presidency of the community. … It was Edouard Courtial (Les Républicains) and his team who came across this disturbing transaction. Article 40 obliges, the new departmental majority could only make a report to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Judgment under advisement

Seven years later, the case therefore earned the former boss of the Department to appear in court. Did Yves Rome make a mistake? The magistrates gave themselves a few days to answer this question since the judgment was put under advisement. One thing is certain: Yves Rome made a good deal by buying this car for 16,000 euros when it was worth 9,000 euros more. The question is whether it was the Isarian taxpayer who paid the price for this good deal…

Judgment was therefore reserved. The public prosecutor has requested a fine of 2,000 euros against Yves Rome. Judgment will be rendered on December 15.
