Crystal trap: 34 years later, Bruce Willis returns to a legendary film location – CinéSéries

Bruce Willis is an actor whose career is no longer in dispute. It was in 1988 that he caused a sensation with “Piège de cristal”, the first part of the “Die Hard” saga. 34 years later, the actor returned to the filming locations of the film.

Bruce Willis: and diehard was !

crystal trap was obviously a determining film for the career of Bruce Willis. But before this actioner, the actor was already well known to the general American public. Indeed, in the mid-80s, he was a sensation in the series Moonlight, forming a cult duo with Cybill Shepherd. Alternating television and comic roles in the cinema, he was however very far from expected as the first role in the film directed by John McTiernan. Moreover, he was so little known worldwide that he was not even present on the international posters of the feature film!

However, to everyone’s surprise, crystal trap is acclaimed, and Bruce Willis becomes the future of action movies, succeeding Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The pitch is not the most revolutionary, however, since the story follows a cop determined to stop terrorists who took employees of a huge building hostage. However, gone were Sly and Schwarzy’s bulging muscles, and gone were their unreal strength present in most of their films. John McClane, hero of the film, is an ordinary man who has the misfortune to be present in the wrong place at the wrong time. His repeated injuries and his provocative projections will be the salt of the film as well as the following ones.

Subsequently, Bruce Willis will shoot other action films. But none will really have the impact that crystal trap had in 1988.

A tower that remains in the memories

The great strength of crystal trap, it is his filming location which mainly takes place in a huge building called Nakatomi Plaza in the film. This tower which is almost a character in its own right in the feature film is actually the Fox Plaza, headquarters of the 20th Century Fox (who produces the saga diehard). Thus, for 8 weeks, the film crew was able to take advantage of its magnificent premises. To note that this place subsequently appeared in many films such as Lethal Weapon 2, Speed or even Radio Rebels. It is even among the buildings destroyed in the cult ending of fight club.

It is therefore on this famous skyscraper that Bruce Willis recently returned. Indeed, his wife Emma Heming Willis was able to film the 67-year-old actor at the top of this huge building made up of 35 floors. And the video, later posted on social media, has something to make furiously nostalgic. We can see Bruce Willis admiring the landscape from the top of this tower, while the rest of the video presents excerpts from the film, accompanied by the Ode to Joy from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (cult soundtrack of the 1er film).

We recall that Bruce Willis is now retired. Indeed, the actor, suffering from aphasia, is no longer able to work properly. However, he will still be present in DTV via several films he shot before retiring: Die Like Lovers, Wire Room and Paradise Cityin which he will find an actor with whom he shot pulp Fiction (one of his greatest films): John Travolta.
