The friendship between Donatella Versace and Cher goes back many years, but they had never worked together until now. The occasion deserved it: “Donatella and I have been very dear friends throughout our lives,” Cher explains in the press release announcing the collaboration. “We felt like our first collaboration should be about LGBTQ Pride and celebrating a community that means so much to both of us. We wanted to make a fun collection supporting a good cause and we hope you like it”. A part of the sales will go to the Gender Spectrum organization, which works with children and young people from the group. “It has always been my dream to collaborate with Cher, and it has finally come true!” writes the creative director of Versace. “I am delighted that we can support such a brilliant charity, which has such a positive impact on young people.”
The collection, on sale from today in the Web page of the firm of Italian origin, has been baptized as Chersace, following in the footsteps of the successful Fendace, the capsule that also linked Fendi with the house of Medusa’s head. Precisely the famous logo of the brand becomes the protagonist of the collection, dyed with the colors of the rainbow flag in three basics: a short-sleeved cotton t-shirt (300 euros), high socks (80 euros) and a cap ( 290 euros). The capsule also includes versions in which the lines are covered with colored crystals, like the one Cher wore on her Instagram account to announce the launch.
Chersace arrives just one year after the capsule that Versace created with Lady Gaga and her organization Born This Way, also on the occasion of Pride month. And just a few months after the singer of Believe became an unexpected advertising star, starring in campaigns for the Mac and Ugg last winter.
