Captain America: Anthony Mackie jokes about a possible return of Chris Evans

Avengers Endgame marked the end of an era for the MCU. Several characters have bowed out to make way for a new generation of superheroes. This is particularly the case of Steve Rogers (Captain America) who bequeathed his shield to Sam Wilson (the Falcon) at the end of the film.

After finally accepting this new role in the Disney + series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, Sam will officially debut as Captain America in the fourth part dedicated to the superhero. Some rumors continue to persist, however, that Steve Rogers could still return to the franchise, if only to make a cameo.

Asked by E! News about the subject, Anthony Mackiethe interpreter of Sam Wilson, responded with a little joke.

Chris Evans is “an old retiree”

For Anthony Mackie, it is unlikely that Chris Evans one day return to the MCU as Captain America. Since Avengers Endgame, the actor has indeed turned to new horizons by chaining projects like Knives Out, The Gray Man or even Buzz Lightyear.

“Chris is so far from Marvel. Like, Marvel isn’t even in her radius. He is so far away. He enjoys life. It’s like an old retiree”said Anthony Mackie alluding to Steve Rogers’ iconic finale in Avengers Endgame. The character indeed appears quite old and wrinkled to give his shield to Sam after having lived a good life with Peggy Carter.

The Falcon, new Captain America

The chances are therefore slim to find one day Chris Evans / Steve Rogers in the MCU. Fans of the character will have to get used to the idea that it is now Sam Wilson who is Captain America. The latter was thus revealed as such in “Captain America New World Order” whose cinema release date has been announced for 2024. Fans will have to prepare, because everything is in the title: the world changes, so does than the dangers that the new Captain America will face.

As Julius Onah explained in a recent interview with IGN: “The decisions that Sam Wilson will have to make and the situations that he will face are radically different from those that Steve Rogers had to manage. And as a result, he is now the leader of a team, he has to make decisions with major consequences. The world has changed, but so has he. »

Looking forward to the next few months to learn more about Captain America New World Order.
