Cannes: Natalie Portman, Martin Scorsese, Harrison Ford… the stars we expect on the red carpet

Unveiled on Thursday April 13, the official selection suggests glamorous moments on the Croisette, from May 16 to 27. Let’s go for the predictions of chic.

BOf course, there is the thrill of soon seeing the next Marco Bellocchio or the new Todd Haynes, the curiosity of discovering the very first film by the Senegalese Ramata-Toulaye Sy, propelled into competition… But the other pleasure that we don’t sulk: rejoice in meeting headliners, actresses or leading actors, who add a thrill to climbing the steps of the Palais des Festivals.

The general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, Thierry Frémaux, and its president Iris Knobloch revealed this Thursday, April 13 most of the official selection of this 76e editing. Fifty-two films were presented with great promises. Here is who could illuminate the Croisette with his presence.

The international stars

Thierry Frémaux has announced that the cast ofAsteroid City was so dense that there could be 100 of them climbing the steps of the Palace. Shock distributions have become a Wes Anderson trademark. This year, we could count on Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton or Maya Hawke…

Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore will star in May-Decemberby Todd Haynes, while Cate Blanchett is the main character of The New Boy, by Warwick Thornton.

Two of Martin Scorsese’s favorite actors should accompany him to Cannes: Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, for Killers of the Flower Moon.

I’IndianaJones by James Mangold is no shortage of big names either: Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen or even John Rhys-Davies.

Two Depp on the Croisette. While Johnny Depp will open the Festival with Jeanne du Barryby Maïwenn, Lily-Rose Depp arrives with the series TheIdol, by Sam Levinson.

And finally, it’s confirmed, Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke must accompany Pedro Almodóvar, who presents a short film, Strange Way of Life.

French actors

Benoît Magimel is present for three films at Cannes. First with Juliette Binoche for The Passion of Dodin-Bouffant, of Tran Anh Hung, but also for Omar the strawberryby Elias Belkeddar, with Reda Kateb, and finally for There Rosalie with Nadia Tereszkiewicz and Benjamin Biolay.

We also find Anaïs Demoustier and Vincent Lacoste for time to love, by Katell Quillévéré; Vincent Macaigne and Cécile de FranceBiol for Bonnard, Pierre and Marthe, by Martin Provost; Romain Duris, Adèle Exarchopoulos and Paul Kircher for The Animal Kingdom by Thomas Cailley.

Virginie Efira returns for Nothing to lose, by Delphine Deloget. Louis Garrel, Pierre Richard, Melvil Poupaud complete the cast of Jeanne du Barry, with and by Maïwenn. Finally Mathieu Amalric is on the bill for the next Nanni Moretti, Il sol dell’avvenire, And Léa Drucker with Catherine Breillat in Last summer.
