The stars that we appreciate the screen can be very different in everyday life, and that’s normal. Once your face and your life are in the public domain, sometimes it’s hard to be kind in all circumstances. A recent podcast comes to present ten of them among the most kind of Hollywood.
Hollywood: behind the scenes
The former media editor The Hollywood Reporter Matthew Belloni now holds a podcast in which he regularly speaks behind the scenes of the biggest gasworks in American cinema: Hollywood. Appointed The Town, his podcast focuses on various events and on Hollywood news, stars and the evolution of cinema in general. In several videos of about thirty minutes each, he talks about Disney, Sun Valley Billionaire Summer Camp, or even serious topics like the impact of covid-19 on the industry. But her most recent episode dives into a lighter topic, namely the ten nicest stars backstage and off set.
Being a star also means that their personal life and opinions can impact how fans view them. The perfect example is Chris Pratt which, despite being hugely successful in film, is widely hated on the internet for a variety of reasons, including his alleged involvement in an anti-LGBT church. Even though many actors have interviews talking about them, even do videos/podcasts/content, it doesn’t really help to reduce the performance barrier between the actors and their “true identity”. Belloni, in her podcast, gives moviegoers insight into who the most beautiful people in Hollywood are in real life. With the help of Insider Lacey Rose, they released a “definitive list of the top 10 off-camera actors, based on past interactions, connections, and word of mouth.” But the authors also recall that‘there is no ranking inside the list, i.e. one person inside is not nicer than another and it would be silly to compare them on that .
Hollywood: few surprises in the rankings?
The ranking is therefore composed of Amy Adams, Jennifer Aniston, Sterling K. Brown, Will Ferrell, Jimy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, Allison Janey, Tom Hiddleston, Bryan Cranston and Jennifer Garner. Podcaster Belloni and Rose also determined an honorable mention list, consisting of Margot Robbie, Ed Helms, Josh Gad, Octavia Spencer and Conan O’Brien. While there are exceptions, the list leans heavily toward comedic actors and talk show hosts (along with Kimmel Meyers and O’Brien). Most animators usually have to forge positive interactions with several hundred people, this personality transfers rather easily off-camera.
Ferrell is known for playing comedic characterswhere Brown plays one of the show’s fan-favorite characters This is Us : Randall. Some of the names are less used to comedy, like Cranstonfamous for Walter White in the series breaking Bad (but Al also in Malcolm). Last detail to take into account, this list also coincides with the news of the stars present in Hollywood at the moment. Although they are all seasoned stars, it’s nice to see a few more low-key actors on the rosteras Gad Where Hiddleston or others having shoots currently or recently, like Ferrell and Robbie, who star in the upcoming film Barbie coming very soon.
