Without a doubt, the idea of never seeing a movie with Bruce Willis again could disappoint many; however, it seems that the technology could have an alternative. What happens is that the actor already has a virtual twin, which can act for him if the actor so decides.
A few days ago a report emerged that claimed that Bruce Willis had reached an agreement to sell the rights to a virtual twin made with deepfake. In this way, the actor would have received an amount to allow a company to profit from the actor’s image by making his appearance and voice appear in different movies and commercials thanks to the magic of deepfake.
Shortly after this report surfaced, representatives for Bruce Willis revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that there is no agreement with Deepcake, a company to which he had allegedly sold his image rights. In fact, the company made it clear that the rights to the actor’s appearance cannot be sold since they belong to him by default.
Now, that does not mean that we will not see Willis in movies and series thanks to deepfake technology. In fact, Willis and Deepcake have already worked together. It was in 2021 when the company made the actor’s virtual twin for an advertisement for MegaFon, a telephone company in Russia.
“I like the precision of my character,” reads a quote attributed to Willis on the Deepcake site. “It’s a great opportunity to go back in time. The neural network was trained on content from Die Hard and The Fifth Element, so my character is similar to images from that time.”
Taking into account that Willis has already shown his willingness to participate in the world of deepfake, this opens the door for us to see more of him thanks to this technology.

What is a deepfake?
In case you didn’t know, deepfake is the name used to describe an artificial intelligence technique that allows you to create fake videos of real people. By means of algorithms, it analyzes existing videos to generate videos that, without being perfect, can give the sensation that the person being analyzed is really speaking.
