The Marilyn Monroe biopic, titled Blonde, was released on September 16, 2022 in the United States. But has this feature film received the agreement given by the estate of the actress?

On September 16, 2022, the film Blonde hair was released in the United States. Adapted from the book by Joyce Carol Oates, this feature film is a rereading of the life of Marilyn Monroe. But as soon as the first trailer was broadcast, many critics were fired about the accent of the actress who embodies the Hollywood star. Thus, even if the estate of Marilyn Monroe did not give its agreement for the realization of this film, those close to the star wanted to defend Anas de Armas: “Marilyn Monroe is a singular Hollywood and pop culture icon who transcends generations and history. Any actress who steps into this role knows she has a lot of work to do. , it looks like Ana was a great casting choice, as she captures Marilyn’s glamour, humanity and vulnerability. We can’t wait to see the movie in its entirety!”, said Marc Rosen, president of entertainment at Authentic Brands Group, which owns the estate of Marilyn Monroe.

The producer of the film, who is none other than Brad Pitt, also wanted to defend the actress : “She’s phenomenal in this role. It wasn’t until we found Ana that we were able to cross the finish line.” Ana de Armas assured that she worked a lot on Marilyn Monroe’s accent: “It took me nine months of dialect coaching and practice, and a couple of ADR (automated dialogue replacement) sessions to get the accent right. It was a big torture, so exhausting. My brain was fried.”

Ana de Armas: “I did things in this film that I would never have done for someone else”

The young actress explains that she gave a lot of herself for this film : “I did things in this film that I would never have done for someone else, but I accepted for her”, she says, explaining at the same time that she was afraid that the naked scenes would take up too much space: “I know they’re going to go viral, and it’s disgusting. It’s infuriating just to think about it, but I have no control over it. You can never really control what people do with the images. , how they can take them out of context. I don’t think it made me hesitate [à accepter le film]but it made me nauseous to think about the existence of these videos in the future”.
