It’s been 50 years since Ben Affleck, and over the course of his life, the actor has reinvented himself many times.
Married to two high-profile Jennifers, Affleck’s talents have often been overshadowed by his struggle with drug addiction. As he enters his fifth decade on the planet, the Massachusetts native is on the rise. He married his former fiancee, Jennifer Lopez, last month, and has several projects underway, including a movie that reunites him with longtime friend and collaborator Matt Damon.
In honor of the movie star who made it big 5-0, let’s take a look back at some of the biggest hurdles Ben overcame to reap the success he is enjoying right now.

Alcoholism is a topic Affleck has been transparent about over the past few years. He reportedly entered rehab three times, the first being in 2001.
In a 2017 Facebook postthe actor revealed, “I’ve completed treatment for alcoholism; something I have had to face in the past and will continue to face. I want to live my life to the fullest and be the best dad I can be. I want my children to know that there is no shame in asking for help when you need it.”
Despite being outspoken in 2017 about sobriety, the following year Affleck entered rehab for the third time, according to People.
Affleck admitted to The New York Times in 2020, “It took me a long time to basically, deeply, beyond a shadow of a doubt admit that I’m an alcoholic. The next drink will be no different.”

Relationship with Jennifer Garner

Garner and Affleck wed in 2005, and although their relationship was plagued by cheating rumors, as well as Affleck’s personal struggles, they remained together until 2018. The former couple share three children together .
Garner actually drove Affleck to rehab, and he once told Garner’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “He’s someone I love and respect, but I shouldn’t be married to anymore.” .”

While Affleck says his marriage to Jennifer Garner wasn’t meant to be, his relationship with Lopez has stood the test of time.
The couple started dating in 2002, got engaged in 2003 and ended their relationship in 2004.
While they’ve kept in touch here and there, the two fully “reignited” their relationship in 2021, delighting “Bennifer” fans everywhere. The two stars quickly got serious, getting engaged in April 2022 and wed last month in Las Vegas. They would have an extravagant three-day party, starting on Friday, according to Page Six.
Film career

Earlier this year, Affleck starred alongside then-girlfriend Ana de Armas in the movie “Deep Water.”
Since then, Affleck is currently working on an untitled project alongside his longtime collaborator and good friend, Matt Damon. He is also said to be revisiting his role as Batman in the films ‘The Flash’ and ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’. He should also appear in “Clerks 3”.
As he turns 50, Affleck appears to have a bright future ahead of him in this reimagined next chapter of his life.
