Michael Keaton will soon resume one of his most significant roles with “Beetlejuice 2”. The actor says he is extremely happy with the shooting, which would be similar to the first film.
Beetlejuice back soon
35 years after the release of beetle juice (1988), its sequel has been announced! An unexpected project that could have made people fear the worst. But with Tim Burton back behind the camera, there’s hope that Beetlejuice 2 be a pleasant surprise. All the more so with the presence of part of the original cast. First of all Winona Ryderwho played young Lydia who moves in the first film with her parents to the house of Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis), both dead but present to haunt the place.
In addition to the actress, Michael Keaton reprises his role as Beetlejuice, the bio-exorcist who manipulates Adam and Barbara. Just like Catherine O’Hara, who plays Lydia’s mother. It is not yet known if Alex Baldwin and Geena Davis will be in the game. But important new faces with Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci which have been confirmed.
Filming for Beetlejuice 2 started a month ago. A first image of Winona Ryder has already leaked. Additionally, Michael Keaton recently spoke about this shoot in an interview with Empire.
Michael Keaton thrilled with filming
The opportunity for the actor to express his joy and excitement. It’s very simple, the actor seems have fun on setlargely because Tim Burton is reportedly filming this sequel in the same way as the first film.
Beetlejuice is the greatest fucking pleasure one can have while working. It’s so fun, it’s so awesome. And do you know why ? We do it exactly like we did for the first movie. There’s a woman in the great waiting room of the afterlife, literally with a fishing line pulling on a cat’s tail to make it move. I want people to know because I love it.
A rather reassuring statement that shows Tim Burton’s desire to stay in the spirit of the first beetle juice and, a priori, not to play the easy card with only digital effects. But in addition to revealing this small element of the shooting, Michael Keaton affirms that the idea of a Beetlejuice 2 was discussed with between the director and the actor for years. And during their conversations, there was already this desire to go back to basics.
(Tim Burton) and I talked about it years and years ago, never telling anyone. (…) We both agreed that, if it was done, it would be done as close as possible to what we had done the first time. Inventing things, making things happen (…) Like people creating things with their hands and building something. It’s really awesome. It’s the greatest pleasure I’ve had working on a film in I don’t know how long.
Knowing that Michael Keaton has recently worked on superhero movies like The Flashwhich hits theaters on June 14we can understand that he appreciates this way of working for Beetlejuice 2. The Tim Burton film is set to hit US theaters on September 6, 2024.
