Barbie and Ken meet for a robbery: Ryan Gosling would join the new part of the Ocean’s saga

It looks like the next film in the “Ocean’s” franchise will reunite Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in their second on-screen collaboration after the highly anticipated “Barbie.”

Barbie and Ken inseparable? As confirmed by Puck News, after Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie, Ryan Gosling is indeed in negotiations to join Margot Robbie again in a second project: the next reboot (or prequel, the sources diverge) of the Ocean’s saga.

The feature film is currently only in development but production in the spring of 2023 would be considered according to The Hollywood Reporter.

At the controls of this new opus, we will find the director of the Austin Powers and My stepfather and me film series, Jay Roach. This will be his second collaboration with Margot Robbie after he directed the actress in Scandal, alongside Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman. Margot Robbie will also produce the upcoming feature film.

On the script side, we know that it will be signed Carrie Solomon and that the action will take place in Europe in the 1960s.

Launched by Steven Soderbergh in 2001, Warner Bros.’ Ocean’s franchise has since enjoyed immense success. What started out as a simple remake of Lewis Milestone’s 1960 Stranger in Las Vegas, starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. among others –, has since blossomed into an unexpected and lucrative saga.

It all started with Ocean’s Eleven featuring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon. After the first heist comedy grossed over $450 million theatrically worldwide, Soderbergh and company subsequently produced two more episodes, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s 13, in 2004 and 2007, respectively.

The franchise returned in 2018 with Ocean’s 8, a female spin-off starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina and Rihanna.

Expected in David O’Russell’s thriller Amsterdam alongside a renowned cast including Christian Bale, Anya Taylor-Joy and Michael Shannon, scheduled for next November, Margot Robbie will also find Brad Pitt in Damien Chazelle’s next film, Babylon , which will be released in January 2023 with us.

After Barbie therefore, scheduled for July 2023, Ryan Gosling, meanwhile, will then share the poster with Emily Blunt in David Leitch’s action drama, The Fall Guy, for Universal.
