Ather Energy has just unveiled its new affordable electric scooter, the Ather 450S. This mid-range model was designed to compete with Ola Electric’s S1 Air scooter.
The first Ather electric scooter was launched in 2020, it is the 450X. This top-of-the-range scooter is distinguished by its features and its unique technology. However, it is not the most accessible model on the market. So that the general public can have access to its products, Ather is launching a low-cost model: the 450S.
Ather’s new electric scooter teased
Electric two-wheelers, especially electric scooters, are becoming the most popular means of transport for city dwellers. They allow them to travel at lower cost thanks to government aid. To promote this sustainable solution, Ather offers a cheap electric scooter the 450S. Although it is entry-level, it claims to offer performance and a driving experience comparable to the 125 cc thermal scooter.
The Ather 450S includes a 3 kWh battery, which offers a range of 115 km in a single charge. It also reaches a top speed of 90 km/h. These performances are enough to move around town and on the outskirts.
Although the characteristics are still little known, this cheap electric scooter lacks certain functions reserved for more expensive models. Tarun Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy, however, indicated that the 450S will integrate revolutionary equipment. This will improve driving pleasure and safety, while maintaining outstanding performance.
Reservations for the electric scooter start in July
The Bengaluru-based EV startup will start taking reservations for the Ather 450S electric scooter from July. The launch schedule for the scooter remains unknown at this time.
Separately, Tarun Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy, shared his thoughts on the launch of the new electric scooter. He stated that the 450 platform had been a great success for the company. He emphasized the company’s goal of making electric vehicles more accessible to more buyers. Mehta pointed out that the entry-level model targets anyone who wants to approach the electrical sector while looking for quality and reliability.
As for the design of the scooter, the company has yet to fully introduce the 450S. A teaser has however been unveiled, showing its dashboard. This entry-level version should look like its more expensive counterpartbut differ in small details.
