If this Asus laptop does not fully meet your needs, we invite you to consult our cheap laptop guide, you will find other similar laptops that can be good alternatives to the Asus VivoBook R415JA-EB1790W.

Chassis, connectors, screen of the Asus Vivobook R415JA-EB1778W

It adopts a sober and elegant appearance with its thin and light light silver design.

This laptop PC runs on Windows 11S, a security-centric edition by only allowing the installation of applications from the Windows Store. If we wish, we can get out of mode S for free to migrate to classic Windows 11, but then returning to S mode is impossible.

The connectivity integrated into this Ultrabook is good, including 1 USB-C, a practical HDMI video output to easily connect this computer to a TV or monitor for example, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.1 wireless modules for connections and remote communications, an audio port or 2 USB compatible USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guaranteeing transfers made up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if you connect a USB 3.0 device to it.

While there is not enough space on the right of the chassis to accommodate a numeric keypad, as under any mobile PC whose format is less than 15 inches, Asus offers here its NumPad numeric keypad module.
In practice, when you need to enter numbers more easily, you can convert the touchpad into a NumberPad touchpad.

Thanks to its IPS technology, the screen has significant viewing angles, both horizontally and vertically. Its colorimetry is however classic, which is logical in view of the price charged, and therefore lower than that of high-end IPS panels. In any case, the screen lends itself very well to the display of High Definition content such as videos thanks to its precise Full HD definition superior to the 1366×768 standard and its 16: 9 format. As it is anti-reflective, the screen also offers better visibility in a bright environment (eg outside) than a glossy panel.

Performance, autonomy of the Asus Vivobook R415JA-EB1778W

The Asus Vivobook R415JA-EB1778W is a compact responsive laptop designed for everyday use.

In this area, as in surfing the Internet and office automation, we obtain good performance with this Ultrabook because it is built around a good amount of 8 GB RAM, which is very useful in multitasking, as well as a low-power Intel Ice Lake processor. Core i3-1005G1.

The latter, however, shows its limits under software requiring processor resources, such as AMD Ryzen 3 and less powerful processors of course.

Logically with regard to the price charged, no dedicated graphics card is on board. This thin and light laptop is therefore not designed for heavy graphics work like gaming.

However, it is of course possible to view photos and videos on this laptop with an elegant silver design, thanks to the Intel UHD 620 graphics solution integrated into the Core i3.

On the storage side, there is a silent SSD but also less energy-consuming than a hard drive, more robust and much faster.
In practice, the SSD ensures much better fluidity and responsiveness in use than a simple hard drive, which notably implies much faster start-ups/stops and application launches.

Here we find a 256 GB SSD, enough to accommodate light and / or few files / software. But that’s half of what standard hard drives offer.
However, if more space is needed, a 2.5 inch slot is free to add a second SSD or hard drive.
You also have the option of using an external storage unit. Choose a USB-C/USB 3.0 device for fast transfers.

As for autonomy, expect around 5 hours of battery operation in light use for this Ultrabook whose transport is facilitated by its compactness, finesse and lightness.
