The Asus S515EA-BQ1363T against the competition
If this laptop does not completely meet your needs, we invite you to consult our guide to cheap laptops, you will find other similar laptops that can be good alternatives to the Asus S515EA-BQ1363T.
Chassis, connectors, screen of the Asus S515EA-BQ1363T
With its thin and light light silver design, this Ultrabook has an elegant and discreet look.
It runs on Windows 10S, an operating system focused on security by only allowing the installation of applications from the Windows Store. It is possible to exit S mode for free to switch to classic Windows 10 if desired. But we cannot then return to Windows 10 mode S.
This laptop PC is equipped with a good connection including 1 USB-C, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.1 modules for wireless remote connections and communications, a practical HDMI video output for easy connection to a TV or a monitor for example, an audio port without forgetting 3 USBs all compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guaranteeing transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if a USB 3.0 device is plugged into it.
The screen will appeal to many users. Because it adopts IPS technology involving large viewing angles, both horizontally and vertically. Admittedly, the colorimetry is average, lower than that of more high-end IPS panels, which is expected with regard to the positioning of this PC. In any case, with its precise Full HD definition higher than the 1366×768 standard and its 16: 9 format, the screen lends itself well to displaying High Definition content such as videos. Thanks to its anti-reflective treatment, the screen is also more readable in a bright environment (eg outdoors) than a shiny panel.
Performance, autonomy of the Asus S515EA-BQ1363T
The Asus S515EA-BQ1363T is a thin and light 15-inch High Definition laptop designed for everyday general-purpose use.
It incorporates a low-power Intel Core i3-1115G4 Tiger Lake processor associated with a good amount of 8 GB RAM which is very useful for multitasking.
This core delivers good performance in everyday use, such as in office automation and surfing the Internet.
Certainly, the Core i3 shows its limits under software requiring processor resources, like the AMD Ryzen 3 (and of course less powerful processors).
But it has the advantage of integrating the Intel G4, a graphics solution whose performance is superior to those of the classic Intel UHD 620.
In practice, thanks to the Intel G4, you can watch photos and videos but also play titles that do not consume much graphic resources.
Asus opts for an SSD when it comes to storage. It has the advantage of clearly reinforcing the fluidity and responsiveness on a daily basis compared to a simple hard drive. Thanks to the SSD, we benefit in particular from much faster starts / stops and launches of applications, or even a faster arrival on the cards of online games.
It must be said that an SSD is much faster than a hard drive and has other advantages: silence, greater robustness and lower energy consumption.
The capacity of the integrated SSD, of 256 GB, is sufficient to accommodate light and / or few software and files. On the other hand, it is lower (by half) than that offered by standard hard disks.
However, if 256 GB are insufficient, we can always use an external storage unit such as a USB-C / USB 3.0 device to benefit from fast transfers.
As for the autonomy of this Ultrabook whose transport is facilitated by the weight contained and the smoothness, bet on about 5 hours on battery in light use.
