Collective illusion or unexpected reality, the new direction of Warner seems more and more capable of bringing the DCEU (now the DCU) back from the dead, as the good news is linked. It had to be after the first apocalyptic months that followed the cancellation of Batgirlbut ultimately the long-term plan of David Zaslav (new boss of Warner Discovery) could well pay off.
With the return of Superman and Henry Cavill confirmed in black adam and the handling of the DCU by James Gunn and Peter Safran, more and more people seem to want to believe fervently in the providential return of the Justice League and in top form. Among them, Jason Momoa – still playingAquaman and the Lost Kingdom – suddenly seems very confident about DC’s new future. According to him, the celebrations have only just begun, for the fans as well as for himself.
So in interview with EntertainmentTonight for his next Netflix movie, Slumberland, Jason Momoa was obviously asked about his future in the world of DC and his feelings about it. If a few months ago, his answer could have been very different, the actor was more than enthusiastic in his responses. Despite the controversies surrounding Amber Heard or the countless times her Aquaman 2 was pushed back, the new direction taken by the Warner boat would be enough for the actor to hope for the best:
“With Peter Safran and Mr. Gunn at the helm of DC, I’m extremely excited. There’s a bunch of cool stuff coming soon. One of my biggest dreams will soon come true thanks to them. So stay alert!“
A little communication shot that suggests at least one future big announcement to come (for Aquaman 2 or maybe for a new one Justice League?) supposed to rekindle the passion of the fans a little more. It’s likely that this one won’t be too long in coming when you see how eagerly Henry Cavill’s return has been confirmed (two days after the release of black adam) – clearly, Warner wants to convince as soon as possible and have all the cards on your side.
Armed with a sizeable ambition (perhaps inherited from Kevin Feige), James Gunn has announced that he wants to tell a great story through the future films of the DCU even if it will be necessary to be patient so that everything is put in place. The director still has projects to complete for Marvel, in particular. Especially sinceit will take at least a few good movies in the next few years to rearrange all this messand give us a little more faith in Zaslav’s business.
In the meantime, Momoa’s promises join those of Dwayne Johnson, Henry Cavill and all the others, and rest only on our curiosity to see them fulfilled or not. In the case of Aquaman and the Kingdom losesa by James Wan we will have to wait until December 20, 2023, in our French theaters, to discover the end of the story. Let’s hope that even in Atlantis the firecracker won’t get wet.
