Apple announces ‘Lessons in Chemistry’ series with Brie Larson

Apple TV+ premieres “Lessons in Chemistry,” a new drama series starring Academy Award-winning Brie Larson, who is executive producing.
Lewis Pullman, Aja Naomi King, Stephanie Koenig, Patrick Walker, Thomas Mann, Kevin Sussman and Beau Bridges complete the cast of the new series from Apple Studios, which is currently filming principally in Los Angeles.

A five-star series

Apple TV+ a unveiled a new upcoming series, “Lessons in Chemistry”, with Brie Larson (“Captain Marvel”, “Room”). Based on the best-selling debut novel by author, science writer and publicity writer Bonnie Garmus, “Lessons in Chemistry” will make its worldwide debut on Apple TV+ in 2023.

Rounding out the cast of this highly anticipated drama series alongside Larson are:

  • Lewis Pullman (“Top Gun: Maverick”, “Outer Range”) as Calvin.
  • Aja Naomi King (“How to Get Away with Murder”, “Sylvie’s Love”, “The Upside”, “The Birth of a Nation”) as Harriet Slone.
  • Stephanie Koenig (“The Flight Attendant”, “The Offer”): Fran Frask
  • Patrick Walker (“Gaslit”, “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey”): Wakely

Set in the early 1950s, “Lessons in Chemistry” follows Elizabeth Zott (played by Brie Larson), whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a society that views women as belonging to the domestic sphere, and not in the professional sphere. When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone, and kicked out of her lab, she shows some ingenuity. She accepts a job hosting a TV cooking show and sets out to teach a nation of neglected housewives – and the men who suddenly listen to her – about more than recipes…all while dreaming of a return to his true love: science.

Produced by Apple Studios, “Lessons in Chemistry” is produced by Aggregate Movies. Lee Eisenberg, nominated six times for the Emmy Awards (“WeCrashed”, “Little America”), is the showrunner. The series is produced by Academy Award-winning Brie Larson and Elijah Allan-Blitz, co-executive producer of their company The Great Unknown Productions; Emmy Award-winning Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan (“Ozark,” “A Teacher”) serve as executive producers for Aggregate Movies ; and Academy Award-winning Susannah Grant (“Unbelievable,” “Erin Brockovich”). Natalie Sandy is executive producer for Piece of Work Entertainment alongside Eisenberg. Louise Shore is also executive producer and Bonnie Garmus is co-executive producer.
