In total, 13 films are in competition for this edition which will be held from September 2 to 11 and gives pride of place to first-time directors, with eight first films.

For the opening night, the organizers bet on Elizabeth Banks and Sigourney Weaver on the poster of Call Jane by director Phyllis Nagy (screenwriter of the film carol 2015).

Among the other films in competition, it will be necessary to count on war pony of Gina Gammell and Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley. Presented out of competition but in the Official Selection of the last Cannes Film Festival, the film, which tells the intertwined destinies of two boys living on an Amerindian reserve, won the Camera d’or (best first film).

Also note the presence of The Silent Twins by the Polish Agnieszka Smoczynska. It had also been presented in a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival. Inspired by real events, it tells the story of twins who refused to communicate with the outside world.

Among the highlights of the festival, the screening of the highly anticipated Blonde hair, Netflix production carried by director Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, 2007), about the tragic fate of Marilyn Monroe with Ana de Armas in the title role. The Cuban actress will receive the New Hollywood Award on this occasion, which salutes the passion and commitment of actors.

Another highlight: the first film of the actor of The Social Network (2010) Jesse Eisenberg, When You Finish Saving The World, but also the feature film by American actress Olivia Wilde, Don’t Worry Darling (closing) with Florence Pugh and pop superstar Harry Styles.

We will also have to count on James Gray and his Armageddon Time which had divided the critics at Cannes. Finally, on the side of documentaries, note the presence ofHallelujah: the words of Leonard Cohen, on the life of the Canadian composer of Susanna.

The festival will also welcome actress Thandiwe Newton to present her with a Deauville Talent Award, while Lucy Boynton, discovered in Deauville with Sing Streetwill receive the New Hollywood Award.
