Ridley Scott’s new movie, Napoleon, just got a new preview! Carried by a Joaquin Phoenix who we imagine as involved as his role as the Joker, the feature film promises to be an epic fresco that we will have the chance to discover at the end of the year in France!

Joaquin Phoenix signs a new big role

Expected for November 22, Napoleon promises to be one of the cinematic events of 2023. Directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, etc.) and produced by Apple TV+, the feature film will feature an emperor described as a lover, a tyrant and a legend. In this biopic tracing the origins and rise of the famous historical figure, the British filmmaker focused on Napoleon’s rise to power, but through the prism of his relationship with Josephine, his wife. Among the other known heads, we will find Vanessa Kirby in the role of Josephine while Tahar Rahim will play the character of Paul Barras, a close friend of the emperor and former lover of Josephine. Written by David Scarpa, to whom we owe three episodes of the Master of the High Castle (among others), Napoleon should be a great epic fresco as the first images of the film seem to demonstrate. In particular, we can see the emperor facing the Sphinx of Giza.

Major battles at the heart of Napoleon’s plot?

The filming of Napoleon began in March 2022 in Lincoln, England and was subject to extensive logistics. The reason ? According to information gathered by film specialists, the film would include no less than six major battle sequences. To film the sequences inside Lincoln Cathedral, the production worked for a week so that no element was forgotten. Indeed, the film crew only had two days, between 7 am and 7 pm, to complete all the plans. Other sequences were shot at Stowe Avenue and House in Buckinghamshire, at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock and at Petworth House in Sussex. The film will first arrive in cinemas on November 22 before arriving, at an as yet undetermined date (but by 2025), on the Apple TV+ video-on-demand platform. As for Ridley Scott, the director is currently busy with the Gladiator sequel, but is also working on a new feature film in the Alien saga.
